La Nación colombiana se asocia a la celebración de los cien años del natalicio del doctor Alfonso López Pumarejo, que se cumplen el 31 de enero de 1986, y rinde tributo de admiración y gratitud a su memoria. Con este motivo el Congreso Nacional exalta ante el pueblo colombiano la vida y obra del ilustre estadista, que se proyectaron y perduran históricamente en profundas y audaces transformaciones institucionales por su decidida y decisiva actuación como conductor de multitudes y hombre de Estado, para dar impulso y efectividad a los postulados de libertad política, de democracia social y de convivencia respetuosa y fraternal de todos sus compatriotas.
