Articulo 1º El Fondo Nacional del Notariado, creado por la Ley 29 de 1973, es un Establecimiento Público, esto es, un organismo dotado de personería jurídica, autonomía administrativa y patrimonio independiente. El Fondo estará adscrito al Ministerio de Justicia y su domicilio será la ciudad de Bogotá, pero conforme a las decisiones de su Junta Directiva, podrá establecer sucursales o dependencias en otros lugares del país.
