Para los efectos judiciales y electorales, los territorios que componen las Comisarias del Caquetá y del Putumayo y la Intendencia del Amazonas se dividen así: los territorios situados al Norte o banda izquierda del rio Caquetá, dependerán del Circuito de Garzón , en lo judicial, y el Distrito Electoral de Neiva; y los territorios situados al Sur o banda derecha del mismo rio dependerán del Circuito Judicial y del Distrito Electoral de Pasto.
