A fin de mantener vivo el recuerdo de sus acendradas virtudes públicas y privadas para dechado de las generaciones presentes y futuras, se levantara en la ciudad de Bogotá y en el sitio que el Gobierno designe, una estatua en bronce del grade hombre, con esta inscripción:

"AL GENERAL PEDRO NEL OSPINA,

LA REPÚBLICA DE COLOMBIA".
