Cuando los enfermos de lepra sean conducidos al lazareto, la autoridad de higiene respectiva investigará por si misma o por conducto de la autoridad civil la existencia de parientes sanos que deban hacerse cargo de los hijos de aquéllos. Si las condiciones económicas de tales parientes no son suficientes para atender al sostenimiento y educación de aquellos niños, el Departamento Nacional de Higiene proveerá lo conveniente.
