El Congreso, interpretado el sentimiento nacional, deplora la desaparición de don Gonzalo Mejía quien, por su dedicación a la obra del progreso patrio, se hizo acreedor a que su memoria quede consagrada en las leyes de la Republica, y declara que, con su muerte, pierde la Nación uno de sus más preclaros hijos.
