Si el funcionario descubriere en el procesado indicios de grave anomalía psíquica o de intoxicación crónica producida por el alcohol o por cualquier otra sustancia venenosa, lo someterá inmediatamente a la observación de facultativos en el establecimiento en que se hallare detenido, o en un manicomio, hospital o establecimiento adecuado si fuere más a propósito o si el procesado estuviere en libertad.
