Además de las funciones que le atribuye la Ley 556 del 2 de febrero de 2000 en su artículo 3º, el Consejo Nacional de Profesiones Internacionales y afines, tendrá la de asesorar al Gobierno Nacional cuando éste lo estimare conveniente, en aquellos asuntos relacionados con las profesiones de que trata el artículo 1º de la mencionada ley.
