Art. 34.º Cuando por muerte, ausencia ú otros motivos graves, el General ó Jefe que haya mandado el combate no pueda expedir la verificación de que se habla anteriormente, ella podrá ser expedida por el Jefe de Estado Mayor General ó por quien haya hecho sus veces en la fuerza á que pertenecía el solicitante. En caso de prueba testimonial en este punto, se hará en ella constar que el hecho á que el reclamante se refiere fue de pública notoriedad.
