El número de identificación con que se introdujo al país un motor o chasis o con lo que distinguió el fabricante nacional, no podrá ser borrado ni adulterado. Los fabricantes o ensambladores de vehículos automotores legalmente establecidos en el territorio nacional, deberán grabar los vehículos que produzcan con el número de serie correspondiente, localizado en el mismo sitio en que aparecen en los vehículos similares producidos en el exterior.
