El Ministerio de Salud y Protección Social, en articulación con el Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación, el Instituto Nacional de Cancerología, el Instituto Nacional de Salud, el IETS, las entidades territoriales, las instituciones de educación superior, los centros de investigación y las IPS, promoverá y fortalecerá la investigación en cáncer en todos sus niveles, desde la investigación básica y trasnacional hasta la investigación clínica, epidemiológica, de servicios de salud y salud pública, con el fin de generar evidencia para mejorar la prevención, la detección temprana, el diagnóstico, el tratamiento, la rehabilitación, los cuidados paliativos y los resultados en salud.
