El instrumento es pagadero a la orden cuando debe cubrirse a la orden de una persona determinada o a esta persona o a su orden. Puede girarse pagadero a la orden:

1° De un beneficiario que no es otorgante, girador o girado;

2° Del girador u otorgante;

3° Del girado;

4° De dos o más beneficiario conjuntamente;

5° De uno o alguno de varios beneficiarios;

6° Del que desempeñe cierto cargo al vencimiento.

Cuando el instrumento es pagadero a la orden, el beneficiario debe ser nombrado o indicado en otra forma con suficiente claridad.
