De conformidad con lo establecido en el artículo 1º de la Ley 47 de 1981, las Zonas Francas, son establecimientos públicos del orden nacional con personería jurídica, patrimonio independiente y autonomía administrativa, y están adscritas al Ministerio de Desarrollo Económico. Las Zonas Francas tendrán su sede y domicilio pr incipal en los lugares señalados por sus respectivos actos de creación.
