La función de reconocer personería jurídica a las fundaciones o instituciones de utilidad común y asociaciones o corporaciones sin ánimo de lucro que tengan por finalidad el fomento, prevención, tratamiento y rehabilitación de la salud, dentro de la Jurisdicción de un departamento o del Distrito Especial dé Bogotá, corresponde al respectivo Gobernador o al Alcalde Mayor de Bogotá, D. E., a través del organismo de dirección del sistema de salud.
