La historia clínica es el registro obligatorio de las condiciones de salud de la persona, como tal es un documento privado sometido a reserva, por lo tanto únicamente puede ser conocido por terceros, previa autorización de su titular o en los casos previstos por la ley La historia pertenece a la persona y la institución cumple un deber de custodia y cuidado.
