A partir del primero (1°.) de enero de mil novecientos sesenta y uno ( 1961), se nacionaliza el Colegio de Bachillerato "Deogracias Cardona" de la ciudad de Pereíra, que ha venido siendo sostenido por el Departamento de Caldas, auxiliado por la Nación y el citado Municipio.
