Si dentro del plazo señalado en la sentencia no se pagare la multa a que haya sido condenado el procesado, se podrá proceder a su cobro por la jurisdicción coactiva, haciéndola efectiva sobre la caución de que trata el artículo 14. Si esto no fuere posible, se convertirá en arresto en la forma ordinaria; pero esta pena en ningún caso podrá exceder de cinco años.

Parágrafo

Es entendido que el arresto es convertible en multa en cualquier momento, aunque se esté cumpliendo la condena.
