Del Vicepresidente de la República. Corresponde al Senado decidir acerca de las excusas que presente el Vicepresidente de la República para ejercer la Presidencia. En escrito motivado dirigido al Presidente del Senado, cuando sea llamado al ejercicio de tales funciones, expresará las razones que obligan su proceder.

Esta excusa, aceptada par el Senado, permite el llamamiento según el orden de precedencia legal, a quien ha de reemplazar temporalmente al Presidente de la República.

El Senado calificará la excusa presentada, si su carácter es definitivo o temporal y si debe rechazarse o aceptarse.
