Por el contrato de edición el titular del derecho de propiedad de una obra intelectual y un editor se obligan recíprocamente, el uno a entregar tal obra y el otro a reproducirla difundirla y venderla.

Este contrato se regula, por las reglas consignadas en los artículos siguientes, modificables por las partes en cuanto no fuere contrario al orden público o a las buenas costumbres.
