Las Juntas Municipales de Deportes a que se refiere la presente Ley son las que se organizan por virtud del derecho de asociación, o iniciativa municipal en cualquier municipio del país. Estarán dotadas de personería jurídica, patrimonio propio y funcionarán bajo la orientación, coordinación y control del Instituto Colombiano de la Juventud y el Deporte a través de las Juntas Administradoras Seccionales de Deportes donde éstas funcionen.
