Art. 1581. La obligación es divisible o indivisible según tenga o no tenga por objeto una cosa susceptible de división, sea física, sea intelectual o de cuota.

Así, la obligación de conceder una servidumbre de tránsito, o la de hacer construir una casa, son indivisibles; la de pagar una suma de dinero, divisible.
