Objetivos del Fondo Especial para Investigaciones. El Fondo Especial para Investigaciones cumplirá los siguientes objetivos

Coadyuvar a la financiación de planes, programas y proyectos de investigación y desarrollo científico y tecnológico en el campo de la salud, la biomedicina y la biotecnología, de conformidad con las políticas, planes y lineamientos sectoriales.

Canalizar aportes y donaciones públicas y privadas, nacionales e internacionales, para la ejecución de planes, programas y proyectos de investigación y desarrollo científico y tecnológico en el campo de la salud, la biomedicina y la biotecnología.

Otorgar estímulos a la productividad del personal científico técnico del Instituto de acuerdo con la ley.
