Siempre que el Juez de Menores tenga conocimiento, ya sea por denuncia, o de oficio, de que hay un menor moral o físicamente abandonado o en peligro, abrirá en el acto la investigación correspondiente y se informará, por si o por medio de sus delegados, detalladamente, de las condiciones que rodean al menor, del ambiente de moralidad en que viva, de los medios de subsistencia y de los antecedentes de todo orden, personales y familiares.
