Ascenso a Brigadier General o Contralmirante. Para ascender al grado de Brigadier General o Contralmirante, el Gobierno escogerá libremente entre los Coroneles o Capitanes de Navío que hayan cumplido las condiciones generales y especiales que este estatuto determina, que posean el título de Oficial de Estado Mayor y, además, que hayan adelantado y aprobado el ¨ Curso de Altos Estudios Militares ¨ en la Escuela Superior de Guerra de Colombia, con una duración mínima de treinta (30) semanas.
