El Gobierno Nacional, por intermedio de la Dirección de Inmuebles y Monumentos del Ministerio de Obras Públicas, ordena la construcción de un monumento en los alares de la casa de nacimiento del héroe, vereda de Juan Solarte Obando, Municipio de La Unión, Departamento de Nariño y la colocación de su busto, como también de una placa con leyenda conmemorativa del acto heroico de Juan Solarte Obando en la Batalla de Güepí.
