Para efectos del servicio policial, cada uno de los Departamentos, Intendencias o Comisarías en que políticamente se divide el territorio nacional, tendrá para su servicio un departamento de policía, cuya jurisdicción será la del respectivo Departamento, Intendencia o Co misaría. El Distrito Especial de Bogotá, tendrá un departamento de policía metropolitana con jurisdicción en el Distrito.

Parágrafo

La jurisdicción de los departamentos de policía metropolitana será la de la respectiva área metropolitana.
