El Instituto de Aprovechamiento de Aguas y Fomento Eléctrico, por sí o por intermedia persona elaborará los estudios del río Marquezote, en la Intendendencia Nacional de La Guajira, con el objeto de definir la utilización de su caudal mediante la construcción de una represa, para el beneficio de tierras con irrigación, al mismo tiempo que para su aprovechamiento hidroeléctrico.
