A los Soldados que durante el tiempo de servicio militar se destacaren por su excelente conducta, virtudes militares, aprovechamiento en la instrucción, iniciativa e interés por el servicio, se les otorgará la medalla "Soldado Juan Bautista Solarte Obando". Esta medalla tendrá las características que establece el Reglamento de Condecoraciones Militares (FF. MM. 1-5 Público) y su imposición se efectuará en la ceremonia militar de licenciamiento.
