Origen . La Medalla Militar "Centenario de la Escuela Militar de Cadetes General José María Córdova", fue creada en el artículo 103 del Decreto 1816 de 2007, en categoría única, para reconocer, exaltar y premiar a los alumnos eméritos, oficiales y suboficiales del Ejército Nacional y servidores públicos que con sus servicios distinguidos han contribuido al progreso, fortalecimiento, logro de los objetivos misionales, enaltecer la magna labor y nombre de la Escuela Militar de Cadetes "General José María Córdova".
