La dirección del sistema a nivel seccional la ejerce los Servicios Seccionales de Salud que funcionen en las capitales de los Departamentos, de las Intendencias, de las Comisarias y en el Distrito Especial de Bogotá para el efecto tendrán las siguientes funciones. a) adaptar la política nacional de salud a las características de cada región. b) Formular sus planes y programas de salud. c) Supervisar el funcionamiento de las entidades que presten servicios de atención médica en su jurisdicción. d) Realizar las actividades que les deleguen el Ministerio de Salud pública y sus entidades adscritas y vinculadas.
