En homenaje a la memoria de este ilustre ciudadano se erigirá en el municipio de Sopetrán (Antioquia), cuna del insigne hombre público, una estatua con la siguiente inscripción: “La República de Colombia al eminente hombre público Carlos Gaviria Díaz, defensor del Estado social de derecho”.
