En la navegación fluvial, es obligación del capitán poner la carga transportada a disposición de la autoridad judicial del lugar, para que provea lo conveniente a su depósito, conservación y seguridad, cuando el consignatario no se presente en tiempo razonable a recibirla o no haya tenedor legítimo del conocimiento de embarque o ignore el capitán a quién deba hacer la entrega del cargamento.
