Origen. Creada mediante Decreto número 786 del 12 de mayo de 1995, como medalla “Servicios Distinguidos a la Infantería de Aviación”, hoy especialidad de “Seguridad y Defensa de Bases Aéreas”, con el fin de enaltecer y destacar al personal que en cumplimiento de sus funciones se hayan distinguido por sus servicios prestados a la Especialidad, o aquellas personas o entidades que el Comando de la Fuerza Aérea considere meritorio resaltar por sus aportes para el cumplimiento de las misiones de seguridad.
