El Congreso de Colombia honra la memoria del ilustre colombiano doctor Jorge Palacios Preciado, boyacense, historiador, escritor y archivista, quien con sacrificio y denuedo dedicó su vida a conservar la historia documental de Colombia, logrando un merecido reconocimiento nacional e internacional. Como homenaje perenne a su memoria el Archivo General de la Nación, ubicado en la carrera 6 N° 6 - 91 de la ciudad de Bogotá D. C., se llamará, a partir de la vigencia de la presente ley, "Archivo General de la Nación JORGE PALACIO PRECIADO".
