El mando exigido por los ascensos será el siguiente:

Para ascender de Capitán de Corbeta a Capitán de Fragata, haber servido por lo menos tres (3) años a bordo de un barco de guerra en el mar.

Para ascender de Capitán de Fragata a Capitán de Navío, haber estado por lo menos dos (2) años al mando de un barco de guerra en el mar.

Para ascender de Capitán de Navío a Contraalmirante, haber estado por lo menos un (1) año al mando de un barco de guerra en el mar.
