Origen. La Medalla Militar Servicios Meritorios Inteligencia Militar “Guardián de la Patria”, fue creada en el artículo 137 del Decreto 1816 de 2007, en categoría única, la cual puede ser otorgada al personal de Oficiales, Suboficiales, Soldados y personal civil al servicio de las Fuerzas Militares, cuantas veces se hagan acreedores por sus servicios distinguidos en diferentes operaciones de Inteligencia Militar, Inteligencia Técnica y Contrainteligencia.
