Definición. Son Fondos Ganaderos las Sociedades de Economía Mixta constituidas o que llegaren a constituirse con aportes de la nación, las entidades territoriales o las entidades descentralizadas de cualquier orden. Podrán constituirse bajo el tipo social de Sociedades Anónimas de economía privada, siempre y cuando se ajusten a las políticas establecidas por el Ministerio de Agricultura en materia de fomento ganadero, de acuerdo con las previsiones legales.
