Alcance de la corrección. La corrección del componente sexo en el Registro Civil de Nacimiento podrá consistir en la inscripción del sexo masculino (M) o femenino (F).

El Número Único de Identificación Personal (NUIP) no se modificará con la corrección del componente sexo en el Registro Civil. En el caso de las cédulas otorgadas con anterioridad a marzo del año 2000, se realizará la cancelación del cupo numérico a fin de que sea asignado un Número Único de Identificación Personal (NUIP) de diez (10) dígitos.
