°. Objeto . El Instituto Colombiano de Crédito Educativo y Estudios Técnicos en el Exterior “Mariano Ospina Pérez”, Icetex, tiene por objeto fomentar y promover el desarrollo educativo de la Nación, mediante créditos, así como a través de la canalización de otros recursos y oportunidades nacionales e internacionales, de acuerdo con las políticas, planes y programas trazados por el Gobierno Nacional. La actividad que realice el Instituto en cumplimiento de su función social se sujetará, en general, a criterios de costeabilidad.
