Los términos legales o judiciales no pueden ser prorrogados sino a petición de algún interesado, hecha antes de su vencimiento, por causas graves justificadas.

El Juez, prudencialmente, y por una sola vez, concederá la prórroga, que en ningún caso puede exceder del doble del término ordinario.
