Funciones del Despacho del Viceministro. Además de las funciones asignadas por la Ley 489 de 1998, el Viceministro de Salud cumplirá las siguientes funciones

Supervisar y controlar la planeación Sectorial en el Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud.

Orientar y supervisar la elaboración periódica del diagnóstico sectorial.

Supervisar y controlar las acciones de financiamiento, aseguramiento y desarrollo de servicios para la prestación de servicios de salud.

Coordinar, armonizar e integrar las acciones de las Direcciones Generales y su correspondencia con las orientaciones del Ministro, los organismos colegiados y los postulados del Plan de Desarrollo Económico, Social y Ambiental del Gobierno Nacional.
