Por circunstancias excepcionales en beneficio del servicio y de conveniencia para el país, el término de cuatro años de permanencia en el exterior podrá ser prorrogado hasta por dos años, mediante resolución ejecutiva debidamente motivada. Esta resolución deberá ser comunicada a la Comisión Asesora de Relaciones Exteriores.
